Werbe- & Affiliate-Hinweise

This page explains how Abendanalyse (abendanalyse.de) is funded and how we handle advertising, affiliate links, and sponsored content. We believe transparency is essential to trust, so you can use this page to understand the commercial relationships that support our journalism and how they are kept separate from editorial decisions. If you have any questions about how we make money or what a particular label or link means, this is the place to find clear answers.

What does this mean for you as a reader?

It means you can read our articles knowing that any commercial arrangement behind them is disclosed clearly and never influences what we write. Our editorial team, led by Chefredaktör Matthias Kaiser, makes all content decisions independently of advertisers, sponsors or affiliate partners. When you see a link or a sponsored label, you can trust that the journalism itself remains impartial and fact-checked.

For you, the main practical consequence is that you may see display advertisements, occasional affiliate links that earn us a small commission if you buy something, and clearly labelled sponsored content. None of these alter our commitment to accuracy, fairness and independence as described in our Editorial Policy. If you ever feel a piece of content is not clearly marked, please contact our corrections team at corrections@abendanalyse.de.

How does Abendanalyse make money?

Abendanalyse is funded through a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. No single revenue stream determines our editorial agenda, and our journalists always retain final say over what is published.

Display advertising appears on our site in the form of banners, native ads and video pre-rolls. Affiliate links are used in some articles – typically product reviews, comparisons or recommendations – and may generate a small commission when you click through and make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. Sponsored content is clearly labelled with a “Sponsored” or “Paid Content” notice, and we maintain a separate Sponsored Content Policy that governs its creation. Newsletter sponsorships and content licensing agreements are negotiated directly with partners; all such arrangements are disclosed in the relevant communications. For full details of our ownership and funding structure, please see our Ownership & Funding page.

What are affiliate links and how do they work?

Affiliate links are special URLs that allow us to earn a small commission if you buy a product or service after clicking them. They do not increase the price you pay, and they are always disclosed with a clear notice near the link, such as “(affiliate link)” or a sentence explaining the relationship.

We use affiliate links only in articles where the product or service is relevant to the story and where our editorial team, particularly our Wirtschaftreporter Christina Schreiber or Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Oliver Sauer, has independently assessed the item. No advertiser or merchant can pay to be included in an article or to influence the review. If we recommend a book, a software tool or a household product, the recommendation is based on journalistic merit, not on commission potential. For more on how we source and verify information, see our Sources & Standards page.

How this works in practice

Imagine we publish a practical guide to energy-efficient home appliances. In that article, we might include a link to a retailer that sells a particular washing machine we have tested. That link would be an affiliate link, clearly marked “(affiliate link)” in the text. If you click it and buy the machine, Abendanalyse receives a small percentage of the sale. The review itself is written by our Wirtschaftreporter, based on independent research and, where possible, hands-on testing. The retailer has no say in the review’s conclusions, and we do not accept payment for including or excluding any product. The same principle applies to any sponsored content: a partner may commission an article on a topic, but the editor retains full control over the angle, facts and final text. All sponsored content is labelled and archived in accordance with our Sponsored Content Policy.

Who owns and funds Abendanalyse?

Abendanalyse is owned and operated by Abendanalyse Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Its registered office is at Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000, Malta. The company is funded entirely through the commercial activities described above; no government, political party or external donor holds a stake or exerts editorial influence.

Our editorial independence is guaranteed by the company’s governance structure and by our internal policies. Chefredaktör Matthias Kaiser reports to the board on editorial matters, but commercial staff never override editorial decisions. For a full breakdown of our ownership, revenue sources and conflict-of-interest safeguards, please refer to our Ownership & Funding page.
