Eigentum & Finanzierung

When you read an article on Abendanalyse, it is reasonable to ask who owns the publication and how it is funded. This page provides a straightforward account of our ownership structure, revenue sources and the safeguards that keep editorial decisions independent. Use it to understand the commercial context behind our journalism.

How we are funded

Abendanalyse is funded through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. These revenue streams support our journalism, but no single source or commercial partner determines what we cover or how we cover it. All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled.

Display advertising appears alongside our articles. Affiliate links earn a small commission when readers purchase products through those links. We also enter commercial partnerships with organisations whose values align with our own, produce clearly marked sponsored content, sell sponsorships for our newsletters, and license articles to other publishers. Each revenue stream is managed separately from the editorial team. Our full policy on these arrangements is set out in our advertising and affiliate disclosure.

How editorial independence is protected

Editorial independence at Abendanalyse is guaranteed by the separation between our commercial operations and our newsroom. The editor-in-chief holds final authority over all editorial decisions, including what to publish, how to report it and when to issue corrections. Commercial staff have no influence over editorial content, and revenue considerations never determine reporting conclusions.

This separation is enforced through structural and procedural safeguards. The commercial and editorial teams report through different lines of management. No commercial partner is given advance access to editorial content or the ability to request changes. All sponsored content is reviewed by the editor-in-chief before publication and labelled in accordance with our sponsored content policy. Our editorial standards apply equally to all content regardless of how it is funded.

How this works in practice

Consider a concrete example. A Swedish energy company approaches Abendanalyse with a proposal to sponsor an article about the country’s transition to renewable energy. The commercial team evaluates the partnership and agrees terms that include a budget for the piece. The editorial team then takes over completely.

A journalist is assigned to research and write the article independently, without input from the energy company. The piece is fact-checked by Anna Schulz, our head of fact-checking, and reviewed by the relevant section editor. The editor-in-chief approves it for publication, and the article carries a clear “sponsored” label in accordance with our sponsored content policy. The energy company sees the finished article at the same time as every other reader. No editorial concession is made in return for the sponsorship.

Who is accountable for editorial decisions

Matthias Kaiser, our editor-in-chief, is the person ultimately accountable for everything published on Abendanalyse. He is responsible for editorial standards, publication decisions, corrections and the conduct of the newsroom. He reports to the board of Nordklar Media Ltd but exercises independent editorial judgement in all content decisions.

You can read more about Matthias and the wider editorial team on our Our Team page. If you have a concern about the accuracy or fairness of any article, you can contact him directly at anders.lindqvist@abendanalyse.de or submit a correction request through our corrections policy.

Who owns Abendanalyse

Abendanalyse is owned and operated by Nordklar Media Ltd, a private company registered in Gibraltar under company number C 92009. The company is privately held, with its registered office in Gibraltar. Nordklar Media Ltd also maintains a presence under the Malta Business Registry, and no single individual holds a controlling interest that could compromise editorial independence.

As a privately held company, Nordklar Media Ltd is not subject to the shareholder pressures that can affect publicly traded media organisations. This structure allows the editor-in-chief to make editorial decisions based solely on journalistic merit, without regard to quarterly revenue targets or investor expectations.
