It describes our editorial standards, the checks every article goes through, and how to tell the difference between news, opinion, sponsored content and affiliate links. How do we ensure our journalism is trustworthy?
Abendanalyse guarantees every article is written by a named journalist, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. This three-step process, overseen by Chefredaktör Matthias Kaiser, means you can trust what you read – no shortcuts, no spin.
Our newsroom follows a strict editorial workflow. When a reporter drafts a piece, a second editor checks it for accuracy, fairness and clarity. Then our fact-checking team, led by Anna Schulz, verifies sources, quotes and data. Only after that final sign-off does the story go live. If we later discover an error, we correct it transparently and link to the correction – see our Corrections Policy for details. This process applies to every article, whether it covers Swedish politics, the economy or culture.
How do you distinguish between news, opinion, features, sponsored and affiliate content?
We label every piece clearly so you always know what you are reading. News articles are factual and impartial; opinion pieces are marked as such and attributed to the author; sponsored content carries a prominent label; and affiliate links are disclosed in the article or a footer.
Our news coverage reports events and developments without commentary. Opinion articles, written by our own journalists or external contributors, appear in a dedicated section and carry the author’s name and role. Feature stories are in-depth explorations that may include analysis but remain rooted in evidence. Sponsored content is produced in partnership with a commercial client and is always labelled “Sponsored” at the top and bottom. Affiliate links, which may earn us a commission, are disclosed with a sentence such as “This article contains affiliate links” – you can read our full policy at Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure. Commercial relationships never influence our editorial conclusions.
What transparency do you provide at the article level?
Every article on Abendanalyse shows the writer’s name, the editor who handled it, the date of publication and any significant updates. We also include a link to the writer’s profile and, where relevant, a note about sources or methodology.
This means you can see exactly who is responsible for each story. Our Our Team page lists every journalist and editor, along with their contact details. If an article has been corrected or updated, we add a note at the bottom explaining what changed and why. For articles that involve data analysis or expert interviews, we link to the underlying reports or transcripts. Our Sources and Standards page explains our sourcing principles in detail.
How this works in practice
Imagine you read a story on Abendanalyse about a new Swedish government budget proposal. The article is bylined to Christian Martin, our Politikredaktör. At the top you see a label “News” and the date. At the bottom, a note says “This article contains affiliate links to official government reports.” The story was reviewed by Julia Winkler, our Redaktionschef, and fact-checked by Anna Schulz. Two days later, a small error in a figure is corrected; a box at the bottom says “Correction: An earlier version of this article stated the budget increase was 2.3 billion SEK. The correct figure is 2.8 billion SEK. We regret the error.” That is the level of transparency you can expect from every article on this site.
Who owns and funds Abendanalyse?
Abendanalyse (abendanalyse.de) is owned and operated by Abendanalyse Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing – all clearly disclosed.
We are an independent publisher with no party-political or corporate owners. Our editorial independence is guaranteed by our company charter and overseen by Chefredaktör Matthias Kaiser. How do you use AI and automation?
We may use AI-assisted tools for research, drafting, editing, formatting, translation, metadata and transcription – but never to replace human editorial judgement. Every piece of editorial content is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication.
AI tools can help our journalists find relevant data or generate headline options, but they are never used to write or rewrite articles without human oversight. We prohibit the use of AI to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines or author credentials. Any AI-assisted work is disclosed in the article’s metadata, though not necessarily in the visible text. Our full AI and Automation Policy explains the safeguards we have in place.

If you have a question about an article, want to request a correction, or wish to make a formal complaint, the simplest way is to email our dedicated complaints address: complaints@abendanalyse.de. We aim to acknowledge your message within two working days and resolve it promptly.
