How do I submit a complaint?
You can send your complaint directly to complaints@abendanalyse.de. That dedicated address ensures your concern reaches the right team without delay and is logged from the moment it arrives.
Please include the article title or URL, the date of publication, and a clear description of what you believe is wrong – whether a factual error, a misleading statement, a missing correction, or a breach of our editorial standards. Attaching screenshots or source references helps us review your case faster. You do not need to use any special form; a plain email is sufficient. If you prefer to post a letter, you can use the registered office address listed on our contact page, but email is the quickest route.
What happens after you submit?
Once we receive your complaint, it is assigned to a member of the editorial team – typically the relevant section editor or the fact‑checking lead, Anna Schulz. They will acknowledge receipt within two working days and begin an internal review.
The reviewer examines the article in question against our editorial policy and fact‑checking standards. If the complaint identifies a factual error, the team checks primary sources, consults the original reporter, and determines whether a correction, clarification, or update is needed. You will receive a written response explaining the outcome – usually within ten working days. If the issue involves a potential breach of privacy, we also consult our privacy policy and legal guidelines.
How this works in practice
Imagine you read an article about Swedish housing policy that states a specific subsidy was cut by 15% in 2024. You know the actual figure is 12%. You email complaints@abendanalyse.de with the article link and your source. The Politikredaktör, Christian Martin, reviews the claim, confirms the error, and issues a correction on the article page with a note explaining the change. The fact‑checking team logs the correction, and you receive an email with a direct link to the updated piece. The entire process takes four working days.
This example shows that we treat every complaint individually and prioritise accuracy over speed. Even minor errors are corrected promptly, and the original mistake is acknowledged transparently – never hidden. If the complaint concerns a systematic issue, we also review our internal workflows to prevent recurrence.
Can I escalate my complaint?
If you are not satisfied with the initial response, you can ask for your complaint to be escalated to the Chefredaktör, Matthias Kaiser. Send your escalation request to anders.lindqvist@abendanalyse.de (Matthias Kaiser’s editorial office) or reply to the earlier email thread referencing the case number.
Matthias Kaiser will personally review the original complaint, the editorial team’s findings, and any additional evidence you provide. He will issue a final decision within another ten working days. This second stage is our internal ombuds process – there is no higher level within the organisation. If the issue remains unresolved, we may suggest external mediation, though that is rare. For any escalation, you can also refer to our contact page for alternative ways to reach the editorial leadership.
Who operates Abendanalyse?
Abendanalyse is owned and operated by Abendanalyse Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. The editorial team is based in Sweden and Germany, with a clear separation between commercial interests and editorial decisions – as detailed in our ownership and funding policy. If your complaint involves concerns about commercial influence, sponsorship, or affiliate links, that policy explains how we guard against conflicts of interest.
In short
We take every complaint seriously and aim to resolve it fairly and transparently, usually within ten working days. If you are not happy with the outcome, you have a clear path to escalation with the Chefredaktör. Your feedback directly helps us maintain the trustworthy journalism our readers expect.
